Trump's Project 2025 suggests changing how overtime is calculated leading to reduced or no overtime pay at all for the same amount of total work hours.
Current rules say you should get overtime pay if you work more than 40 hours in a week. Project 2025 wants to change this so your overtime is averaged out over a longer time, like two weeks or a month.
Specifically, employers […] should be able to set a two- or four-week period over which to calculate overtime. This […] would not require the employer to pay [employees] more for that same total number of hours of work during the entire period.

This would allow employers to schedule you to work long hours during busy weeks and then cut your hours during slower times—with you ending up getting paid less overtime or not getting overtime pay at all.
